This is a full term fetal skull with cutaways into the mandible and maxillae to show the pre-emergent dentition. The occiput is still in four parts showing clear distinctions between the squamous, condylar and basilar portion. The frontal bone still has an open metopic suture and there are large openings in the anterior, posterior, sphenoidal and mastoid fontanelles . The temporals are still in three pieces with a clear differentiation of the tympanic ring and a distinct separation between the squamous and the petrous portion. The striations radiating out from the ossification centers at the frontal and parietal eminences are clearly discernible. This is a very large, well detailed specimen making study of fetal development quite easy. Because of it's clarity, this is an ideal teaching tool for students and patients.
