This is a fascinating specimen in that it exhibits some very prominent physiological and non-physiological cranial base patterns. There is an inferior vertical shear and a lateral shear pattern that is transmitted through the entire cranium. Looking down into the cranium with the calvarium removed, there is marked narrowing in the anterior cranial fossa and a corresponding widening in the posterior and middle fossa. There is also a very strong side-bend / torsion pattern that shows itself. The cranium has an open metopic suture and numerous wormian bones on the lamdoidial suture. Looking down on the skull with the calvarium attached, there is a distinct parallelogram shape. This is a very large specimen from a skeleton that stood over 6 feet 2 inches high and the details are excellent. We also have the matching sacrum from the same skeleton available separately or as a set.
